Lamac wrests seniors-A title in Consolacion caging

CEBU, Philippines - Joseph Cabahug fired 16 points, while Mamil Larrobis and Jacob Baguio chipped in 14 markers apiece as Lamac upstaged Poblacion Occidental, 69-64, to win the championship of the inter-barangay seniors category A in the 6th Mayor Teresa P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.

With a sparkling average of 26 points, 15 rebounds and five assists per game, Cabahug did not only snatch the Finals MVP but also the regular season MVP award.

After coasting to a solid 17-6 start, Lamac suffered an offensive meltdown, enabling Poblacion Occidental to pull within just three points at halftime, 28-31.

Lamac, however,  went back to business in the third canto to regain a dozen points lead, 58-46, going into the final 10 minutes of play. Lamac then neutralized the offense of its foes in the windup to squeeze out a five-point win.

Fritz Arreza paced Poblacion Occidental with 19 points, while Arturo Pepito and Erwin Armean  each scored 10 in a losing effort.

Games of the month-long tournament were supervised by commissioner Paul Alelu Q. Flores, a former standout of the FEU Tamaraws alongside PBA superstrar MVP Arwind Santos during their UAAP days. He was assisted by deputy commissioner Aurelio Eslawan and technical commitee head Leking Caylan.

The overall committee chairman of the event is Liga ng mga Barangay President Roy Linaboc. He is co-chaired by SB members Marilou P. Casul and Benjamin "Boy" Tibon.

Held to spice up the annual fiesta celebration of Consolacion in honor of their beloved patron San Narciso on October 29, the annual spectacle was made possible through the all-out support of Consolacion LGU led by Mayor Teresa Alegado and Vice Mayor Dr. Rey Damole along with SB members JoyJoy Alegado, Nelia Ermac, Elenito Palang, Brando Cuizon, Victor Maglasang and Alfie Ouano.
