7 koponan labu-labo sa MPBL
MANILA, Philippines — Mahigit pitong koponan sa pangunguna ng Tanduay Rhum Masters ang sasabak sa inaugural staging ng Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) na magbubukas sa Enero 25 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Yes, we have now seven teams, which will be seeing action in the league. It’s a go for us,” ani Duremdes na dating PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Bukod sa Tanduay, ang iba pang koponan na sumali sa liga na itinatag ni boxing icon at Sen. Manny Pacquiao ay ang Bulacan Kuyas, Valenzuela Classic, Marikina Athletics, Caloocan Supremos, Navotas Redcore at Muntinlupa.
Ayon pa kay Duremdes, isa rin sa 40 Greatest Players ng PBA na bukas para sa iba pang mga dating professional players ang bagong liga para maipagpatuloy nila ang kanilang career sa paglalaro.
“We don’t have limit for ex-pros, but we want to have at least three players from their respective towns or cities. We want to feel that homegrown atmosphere, which is the main objective of this league,” dagdag ni Duremdes.
Iginiit ni Duremdes na hindi nila tinayo ang MPBL para magkaroon ng karibal ang 42-anyos na PBA at hindi ito professional na liga.
“This is not a professional league. it’s not being established to rival the PBA. The MPBL is an amateur league and our goal is to develop more up and coming players and discover new heroes from different towns or provinces,” aniya.
