Pinoy archers hindi nakapana ng anumang medalya

KUALA LUMPUR – Isi­nuko nina Pinoy archers Flo­rante Matan at Nicole Or­tega ang kanilang semifinal duel kina Khairul Anuar Muhammad at Nural Aliya Ghapar ng Malaysia at tu­luyan nang na­bigong ma­katudla ng medalya sa archery competition ng 29th Southeast Asian Games kahapon dito sa Na­tional Sports Center Synthetic Turf Field.

Kinuha nina Matan at O­r­tega ang 4-2 abante pa­tungo sa fourth at final set ng laban.

Ngunit nakatabla sina Muhammad at Ghapar sa 4-4 para sa isang sudden-death shoot-off.

Iginupo ng Malaysian tan­dem sina Matan at Or­tega, 19-16, patungo sa championship match laban sa Indonesia.

Sa gold medal round ay tinalo ng Indonesia ang Malaysia, 5-3.

Natalo naman sina Ma­tan at Ortega kina Chu Duc Anh at Loc Thi Dao ng Vietnam, 2-6, (34-37, 35-33, 36-37, 34-36), sa bronze-medal play.

“Medyo po maha­ngin ka­ya kahit i-adjust ko ang ti­ra hindi po tumatama sa target,” wika ni Matan, pu­mana ng gold medal sa men’s team recurve noong 2005 SEA Games.

“Binawian tayo ng Vietnam after we beat them in the men’s and women’s team recurve for the bronze last Monday,” sabi naman ni head coach Clint Sayo.

Sa kabuuan ay kumuha ang mga Filipino hawkeyes ng apat na bronze medals.
