1 dies in Las Piñas fire; 200 families homeless
MANILA, Philippines - A man died and at least 200 families were left homeless when a fire broke out at a residential area in Las Piñas City on Saturday night.
Arson probers identified the fatality as Jefferson Brazos Tangher.
Reports said that Tangher helped firefighters put out the blaze that struck the house of Dino Obanil along Zapote Road in Barangay Talon 2 at around 9 p.m.
Tangher was electrocuted at the height of the fire.
He died while being taken to the hospital.
The fire reached Task Force Bravo and spread to nearby houses before it was declared under control at past 1 a.m. yesterday.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Damage to property was placed at P1 million.
The Bureau of Fire Protection reminded the public to take safety precautions to prevent fires during the summer season.
