World newspapers unite for Impact Journalism Day
MANILA, Philippines - Fifty-five leading newspapers across the world, including The Philippine STAR, will simultaneously feature 60 inspiring projects on the next edition of Impact Journalism Day (IJD) on June 24.
Led by social business Sparknews, IJD aims to bring together leading news organizations to share stories of hope, change and positive innovation by featuring projects that promote concrete solutions to different development issues.
“Beyond the normal daily flow of current stories that are often negative and instantaneous, the stories featured in Impact Journalism Day are precise and clearly framed reports on solutions to problems that threaten society,” Sparknews said.
“In an attempt to bring attention to these issues and all the while propose concrete solutions, the IJD editorial operation is a catalyst for change for editors, journalists and readers,” it added.
Two projects based in the Philippines – Build Change and Sustainable Alternative Lighting or SALt Lamp – were among dozens featured in IJD 2016.
Sparknews has opened the call for projects for the next edition of IJD. Proponents may share their projects at http://tellsparknews.com until March 15.
The STAR is the Philippine partner of Impact Journalism Day.
