CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano top circuit rider Mario Borbon looks forward to a more productive year ahead with his transfer to another team and for his being part once again of the three-man Suzuki Philippines for this year’s Asian Road Racing Championships.

Borbon, the first Cebuano to win in the prestigious ARRC-Suzuki Asian Challenge in Thailand last year, has ended his five-year stint with BMR of Bobby Mencias to join the relatively new Mallari Racing Development.

Borbon said he came up with the decision for his personal growth and career advancement.

At the moment, MRD is still finalizing what team and companies Borbon will carry in the local circuit.

Meanwhile, Borbon will be leaving for the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia next week for the official test before the six-round Asian Challenge series revs off.

Malaysia plays host to the first round on March 30 to April 2. Round 2 will be at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand on April 12 to-15 as well as the sixth and final round on November 29 to December 3.

Round 3 will be at the Suzuka International Circuit in Japan on June 1-4, round 4 will be at Sentul Internatoinal Circuit in Indonesia on August 10-13, while round 5 is set at the Buddh International Circuit in India this October. (FREEMAN)
