Press con… err photo ops

K KA LANG? - The Freeman

Big event. A top BPO company recently held a big activity and invited media to cover the event. The invitation said there will be a press conference where top executives of the company will talk about the latest in the BPO industry and the media will also be treated to an interview with a popular celebrity, who was the guest for the BPO’s event.

No coordination. An EAR informer said that event became chaotic because there was no coordination between the two PR firms hired to take care of the media invitations. “It turned out that there were two PR firms hired to take care of the invitees. One PR firm expected only a small group of media to attend while the other PR firm invited quite a number,” the informer said, “So in the end, the large group of media who were invited were crammed into a hotel function room.”

Photo ops. “Being crammed into a room would have been alright if only the press conference pushed through,” the informer said, adding that no press conference happened because the celebrity guest’s flight was delayed and the company executives were not available. “It was not a press conference but a photo ops (opportunity) with the celebrity guest, who eventually arrived,” added the informer.
