Pelikula ni Sid Lucero idedemanda ng Amerikanong direktor na si Coppola!

Nagbanta pala ng demanda ang American director, writer and producer Francis Ford Coppola sa producer ng pelikulang Apocalypse Child na si Monster Jimenez na nagsimulang ipalabas sa mga sinehan noong Miyerkules. Ang Apocalypse Child starring Sid Lucero, Gwen Zamora, Ana Abad Santos, RK Bagatsing, Annicka Dolonius, Archie Alemania, and directed by Mario Cornejo ay kuwento ng isang magaling na surfer (Sid) na ang pangalan ay Ford. Tumatak sa isip niya mula pagkabata na ang magaling na director na si Coppola ang kanyang ama na nakilala ng kanyang ina nang mag-shooting ang grupo ni Coppola ng pelikulang Apocalypse Now sa Baler, Quezon noong 1979.

Bagama’t hindi ‘yun klaro sa kanya (Ford/Sid) dahil hindi naman kinumpirma ng kanyang ina. Nanatili itong misteryo sa buhay ni Ford hanggang sa magka-edad at ma-in love at magkaroon ng kaibigan. Pero alam sa buong nayon nila na si Direk Coppola ang kanyang ama.

Pero na-establish din naman sa pelikula na isa lang naman ‘yung urban le­gend at may eksena pa na isang assistant sa shooting ng Apocalypse Now ang gumalaw noon sa gumanap na nanay ni Sid (Ford), nanatiling misteryo ang nasabing kuwento as Baler.

Nag-shooting sa bansa si Coppola noong 1979 at kinunan ito sa Baler Bay na pinag-shootingan din ng Apocalypse Child.

Inihahanda na umano ngayon ni Mr. Jimenez ang magiging paliwanag nila sa bantang demanda ng batikang American director.

By the way, Graded A ng Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) ang Apocalypse Child.

Personally, nagandahan ako sa pelikula dahil matino ang pagkakagawa at paglalahad ng kuwento. Ang ganda rin ng Baler at magagaling ang lahat ng mga artistang bida.

Showing pa rin ito sa ilang mga sinehan sa Metro Manila at ilang sinehan sa mga probinsiya.

4 na mainstream movie nasa MMFF na

Apat na pelikula na ang nai-submit sa review committee ng Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) as of yesterday. Pero hindi nabanggit ng kausap ko kung anu-ano ang mga nasabing pelikula. Pero definitely, pawang mga mainstream movie raw ito.

Na-extend sa November 2 ang deadline ng mga sasali at papasok sa Magic 8.

Labu-labo ang labanan. Walang category ang mainstream and indie kaya nag-uunahan ang mga producer.

Sa November 18 naman malalaman kung ano ang official entries sa film fiesta tuwing Pasko.

FDCP at Busan Asian School may offer na libreng Film study sa Korea

Gusto n’yo bang makapag-aral sa South Korea ng libre at matutong mag-market ng mga pelikula? Ito na ang pagkakataon n’yo. May bonggang offer ang Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) at Busan Film Commission. Libre lahat ito ha.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Busan Film Commission and Busan Asian Film School, offers our budding film producers the valuable opportunity to study in a fellowship in South Korea for free and learn how to better market and promote our local cinema.

Film practitioners may be in for the chance of a lifetime in becoming a fellow of the International Film Business Academy at the Busan Asian Film School and learning about the vital business aspects of the film industry and production. The course in Producing spans a total six months from March to October of 2017, with only twenty applicants accepted into the school. The fellowship will be offered with free tuition, round-trip airfare and accommodations.

Anybody with experience in the industry can be accepted—no limits will be placed based on nationality, academic achievement, or age. Applicants must have fluency in English as the course will be conducted in the language. A rigorous screening process will be conducted by the FDCP to create the final shortlist to be sent to the Busan Asian Film School, which will be conducting their own screening process for the candidates over November and December of this year, before announcement of the final admission decisions on December 28, 2016.
