Mabilog sinibak, Iloilo City may bagong alkalde

MANILA, Philippines — Inihain ng mga ng tauhan ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6 ang dismissal order laban kay Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog kahapon kasunod ng hatol ng Office of the Ombudsman na patalsikin siya sa pwesto.

Dumating ang mga abogado ng DILG na sina DILG Region 6 director Anthon Nuyda at DILG-6 legal officer Cedrick Jaranilla kasama si Iloilo City lawyer Ferdinand Panes sa tanggapan ni Mabilog ganap na 12:30 ng hapon.

Malinis na ang opisina nang dumating ang mga kawani ng DILG kung saan wala na rin ang gamit ng alkalde.

“Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is found guilty of serious dishonesty relative to his unlawful acquisition of wealth. Accordingly, he is meted penalty of dismissal from the service with cancellation of civil service eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, perpetual disqualification from holding public office and bar from taking civil service examinations,” nakasulat sa kautusan na binasa ni Jaranilla.

“Jed Patrick Mabilog is hereby directed to cease and desist from exercising the powers, functions and privileges of the office of the City Mayor of Iloilo or from any other government position he may now or afterwards hold effective immediately upon receipt hereof,” dagdag nito.

Tulad ng pagtitiyak ng kampo ni Mabilog, walang naging problema sa pagpapatalsik sa kaniya dahil walang umalma sa kautusan.

Nanumpa naman bilang acting mayor si Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III hanggang sa katapusan ng kanilang termino sa 2019.

“Furthermore, Mayor Mabilog is hereby directed to turn over all properties and documents to the office of and functions to Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III, who shall assume office as local chief executive of Iloilo City who shall serve the unexpired portion of his term,” patuloy pa ng kautusan.

Nangako naman si Espinosa na gagawin ang lahat para sa ikabubuti ng lungsod. Aniya, ipagpapatuloy din niya ang magagandang nasimulan ni Mabilog.

Napatunayang guilty ng Ombudsman si Mabilog sa serious dishonesty dahil sa umano’y hindi maipaliwanag na yaman.

Pinangalanan din ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Mabilog bilang isang narco-politician.
