Summer may start this week
MANILA, Philippines - Rains will persist in some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao today due to the tail-end of a cold front even as the state weather bureau is likely to declare the start of the dry season today or later this week.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said moderate to occasionally heavy rains that may trigger flashfloods and landslides are expected over eastern and central Visayas and Caraga region.
The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
By tomorrow, the eastern section of the Visayas and Mindanao can expect improved weather with the forecast entry of the easterlies, the warm air that comes from the Pacific Ocean.
From Friday to Monday, a ridge of high pressure will prevail over the whole country, bringing generally fair weather apart from isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
