Court employee sacked for assaulting judge
MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed from the service an employee of a Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) in Isabela for misconduct.
James Lorilla, process server at the office of the clerk of court in Lal-lo town, reportedly shouted at and assaulted Judge Andrew Barcena.
In a ruling issued recently, the high court also ordered Lorilla’s benefits forfeited, except for his leave credits.
The SC said court employees are expected to be well-mannered, civil and considerate in their actions, both in treating their fellow workers and the public.
It said Lorilla disrespected both the judge and the court.
Records showed Lorilla, along with three other court employees, requested Barcena to sign their performance evaluation report.
Instead of signing the report, Barcena reportedly asked Lorilla to call a certain Thelma Abadilla.
This angered Lorilla, who allegedly shouted and grabbed Barcena by the neck.
