After doing a father role in the top-rating afternoon series “Doble Kara,” award-winning actor Edgar Allan “EA” Guzman plays a young dad anew in the movie “Tatlong Bibe” which features child actors Raikko Mateo, Marco Masa and singing champion Lyca Gairanod.

According to EA’s manager Noel Ferrer, the role of a father in “Tatlong Bibe” is a good one. Well, at least, it is a welcome break for EA who had been doing gay characters in his past movies like “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” and “Working Beks.”  To be fair to EA, he is able to portray roles with sanity and restraint. And he gets praises for his acting.

EA has no qualms in portraying a father on screen. What is important is that the movie has a good story. “As long as the role is good and I feel I can do it, I am willing to accept any kind of role,” said the Cinemalaya and Golden Screen Awards best actor awardee for “Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me.”

He has yet to start a new show for ABS-CBN which produced “Doble Kara.” But he is just waiting for a good project to come his way. EA acknowledges he made good strides in his career after he signed up with ABS-CBN. He competed in the first season of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” where he finished third runner-up. He was also recently scene in an episode of “Ipaglaban Mo” where he got good reviews for his performance.

Opening today in cinemas is “Tatlong Bibe” under Regis Films where EA joins a stellar cast that includes Mr. Eddie Garcia, Ms. Anita Linda, Angel Aquino and Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao.

“The Fiercest of Them All” breaks new ground as a show that looks and feels like a motion picture. It is rare that Filipino viewers are treated to a show whose concept is uniquely Pinoy and with production values that resemble a movie. If only for these reasons, “The Fiercest of Them All” should not be missed when it premieres on March 5 at 9 p.m. and will air Sundays thereafter over GMA News TV.

Shot in its entirety in Camp Kanawan, “The Fiercest of Them All” captures the beauty of the place nestled in Morong, Bataan. A river alongside Camp Kanawan and the beach beckons nearby. At night, the skies are lit with stars. Camp Kanawan is perfect for TV and movie shoots. Beyond the beauty and grandness of its location, “The Fiercest of Them All” seeks to break new ground as it weaves the elements of fantasy with the dynamics of reality TV.

A bevy of girls go through challenges not just for the thrill of it all and for what awaits the victor.

“The competition is for the girls and they go through it and they win and all that,” says Martin Rey Aviles, “The Fiercest of Them All” director.

“But what’s for the audience? So we decided to create a story around it that makes the audience even more excited or even makes their imagination work while they’re watching.”

The concept is the product of the fertile mind of Ino Habana, the show’s head writer and producer. In the fictional story within the realm of reality TV, “The Fiercest of Them All” host Daiana Menezes plays a queen who is searching for the fiercest of them all.

“The story happens in Daiana’s world, the fantasy story,” shares Habana. “When she does the challenges with the girls, she’s like in their real world. She crosses worlds.”

Vying for the bragging rights of being “The Fiercest of Them All” are Betsy, Krisha, Christine, Aya, Peru Morena, Tanya and Candice. But if you’re thinking that these alluring models are the only ones competing for the prize, you’re in for a trove of surprises.

A lovely and exciting mix of girls we can all relate to, laugh and cry with, and cheer for will show us that at the end of the day, it is our flaws, strengths, courage, resilience and individuality that make us the fiercest of them all.

Composing the squad of judges are Matthias Rhoads, fitness trainer and model who recently made girls swoon as the groom in a fast food chain Valentine TVC; stylist and fashion writer Bea Jocom; and fashion designer Manu Respal aka Doggficher whose avantgarde creations have graced the pages of Vogue Italia.

Shot with six cameras and one drone, Habana believes they are offering something new, fresh and fierce.

“It’s about time that viewers are jolted out of the usual dose of dramas and comedies offered to them,” said Habana.

Overall Productions brings in a new set of values – professionalism, discipline and the adamant shunning of discrimination in any way – to the industry with its maiden offering.
