Pangilinan ‘di bibitiw sa Gilas

MANILA, Philippines – Sa pagdiriwang ng ‘di matatawarang suporta ni Smart-PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, sinabi ni MVP na para ito sa mga Pinoy na nagmamahal sa basketball.
“I’ve always been asked by a number of skeptics why despite our size, we continue to support basketball, a sport that doesn’t quite fit the physique of Filipinos. And my answer always has been, Filipinos love basketball, right?” ani Pangilinan matapos ang tribute na ibinigay ng Gilas at ng Chooks-to-Go noong Lunes ng gabi.
“Paano natin tatalikuran ang sport na talagang iniibig ng mga Filipino? Hindi ba mahirap gawin iyon? So no matter what, we’ll be there because this is the kind of sport that Filipinos love,” giit ni Pangilinan.
Suportado ni Pangilinan at ng MVP Group of Companies ang basketball program ng bansa mula pa noong 2007 na siyang dahilan para makabalik ang Pinas sa world basketball scene. Para maging No. 2 sa Asia at mag-qualify sa 2014 FIBA World Cup kung saan nakipagsabayan ang Gilas sa powerhouse na Argentina at Croatia.
“Indeed, the measure of progress has always been the FIBA rankings. When we took over Gilas in 2007, we were suspended at that time and ranked 64th. Now, we’re ranked 26th,” ani MVP.
Ang hamon ay magpapatuloy sa pag-akyat sa rurok ng tagumpay.
