SEA Games, para games gold medalists pararangalan sa PSA Awards Night

MANILA, Philippines – Pararangalan ang mga Filipino gold medal winners sa nakaraang 28th Singapore Southeast Asian Games pati na ang kanilang ASEAN Para Games counterparts dahil sa tagumpay nila sa biennial regional meet sa Annual Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night na inihahandog ng Milo at San Miguel Corp.

Binanderahan ni Fil-Am trackster Eric Shauwn Cray ang kampanya ng bansa sa Singapore SEA Games matapos kumuha ng dalawang gintong medalya sa athletics, kasama rito ang paghahari niya sa 100-m century dash para maging unang Pinoy na nagwagi sa naturang centerpiece event.

Sa kabuuan ay humakot ang Team Philippines ng 29 gold medals.

Pinangunahan naman nina veterans Ernie Gawilan (swimming) at Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta (powerlifting) ang 11-gold medal harvest ng mga Filipino sa pang-walong edisyon ng Para Games na idinaos din sa The Lion City.

Ang nasabing mga  gold winners ang bubuo sa bulto ng mahabang listahan ng mga individuals at entities na pararangalan ng pinakamatandang  media organization sa bansa sa Feb. 13 sa Esplanade, katuwang ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) bilang major sponsor.

Tatanggap din ang 28 iba pang atleta ng citations sa gala night na magsisimula sa ganap na alas-7 ng gabi at inihahandog ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Philippine Basketball Association, Globalport, Rain or Shine, One Esplanade, National University, Maynilad, Smart, MVP Sports Foundation, SM Prime Holdings, ni Sen. Chiz Escudero at Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Kasama sa listahan sina Olympian Michael Christian Martinez, archers Amaya Paz-Cojuangco at Jennifer Chan, marathoners Mary Joy Tabal at Rafael Poliquit, teenage cage sensation Kobe Paras, Batang Gilas, Perlas Pilipinas Dragon Boat team, karateka Kristina Charisse Santiago, riders Kenneth San Andres at Milo Rivera, Ernesto ‘Judes’ Echaus ng sailing, shooter Hagen Alexander Topacio at ang Petron volleyball team.

Ang iba pa ay sina weightlifters Hidilyn Diaz at Nestor Colonia, ALA Boxing Promotions, International Premier Tennis League, Manila North 3x3 team, MVP Sports Foundation, National University Pep Squad, Philippine baseball team, Philippine powerlifting team, Philippine Superliga, SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc., tennis patrons Jen Henri Lhuillier, Oscar Hilado, Rommie Chan at Hanky Lee at ang 2019 FIBA-World hosting team.

Itatampok sa event ang pagbibigay ng PSA Athlete of the Year award kina co-winners Donnie Nietes, Nonito Donaire Jr. at Miguel Tabuena.

Pararangalan din ang Gilas Pilipinas, Wushu Federation of the Philippines (NSA of the Year), sina Alyssa Valdez (Ms. Volleyball), Calvin Abueva at Terrence Romeo (Mr. Basketball), sports great Filomeno ‘Boy’ Codiñera (Lifetime Achievement Award) at ang 14 na gagawaran ng major awards na pinamumunuan ni San Miguel superstar June Mar Fajardo.
