Nerza, Donos binanderahan ang Davao leg ng Milo Marathon

MANILA, Philippines - Tinalo ni Anthony Nerza para sa regional crown si 2011 21-kilometer winner Brian Lupio sa Milo Ma­rathon Davao qualifying leg.

Nagsumite si Nerza, sumegunda kay Lupio noong nakaraang taon, ng oras na 1:12:30 para sa kanyang per­sonal best time.

Inungusan ni Nerza para sa karangalan sina Lupio (1:13:54) at University of Mindanao bet James Castillo (1:14:21).

Kumpiyansa ang 23-anyos na estudyante at tubong Kapatagan, Digos sa kanyang tsansa sa darating na National Finals na tatakbuhin sa 42-k track.

Pinamunuan naman ni dating Milo Marathon queen Flordelisa Donos ang women’s division sa kanyang tiyempong 1:26:52 sa kabila ng nararamdamang leg injury.

Binigo ni Donos sina Cellie Rose Jaro (1:35:28) at Emely Avergonzado (1:37:32).

Tatakbo sina Nerza at Donos at iba pang mga qualifiers kasama ang 25,000 runners sa 36th Milo Marathon National Finals sa Disyembre 9 sa SM Mall of Asia Grounds sa Pasay City.

Para sa school category awards, nagsali ang Davao City National High School ng 1,035 student runners para hirangin bilang ‘Biggest School Delegation’.

Ang University of Mindanao ang kumuha sa ‘Fas­test School Delegation’ award sa pinagsamang oras na 19:59.22.

Matapos ang Davao leg, dadalhin naman ang qua­li­fying race sa Butuan City sa Nobyembre 18.

Ililipat naman ito sa Cagayan de Oro City sa Nob­yembre 25 sa pagtatapos ng naturang dalawang regio­nal legs.

“Milo aims to develop a tightly-knit sports commu­nity nationwide, and to bring forth more op­por­tunities to engage the youth in sporting events for a brighter future,” wika ni Robbie de Vera, ang Milo Sports Executive.
