CEBU, Philippines - Sixty-five persons were arrested, over P900,000 worth of shabu seized and 17 illegal gambling machines were confiscated during the “One Time Big Time” operation conducted by Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) last Friday.

During the unified operation, 26 persons were arrested in relation to drugs while police confiscated two large packs, four medium packs and 47 small packs of suspected shabu with a total weight of 79.73 grams and estimated value of P940,814.

Another 27 persons were also arrested in relation to illegal gambling. Seventeen illegal gambling machines, including video karera and moli-moli machines, were confiscated as well as P3,118 in cash believed to be proceeds of illegal activities.

Twelve others were also served various warrants of arrest for theft, illegal possession of bladed weapon, motor-napping and attempted homicide.

The operation is part of the city’s intensified campaign against all forms of illegal activities and is part of safety preparations for the upcoming ASEAN Summit ministerial meetings that will begin on Monday.

The “One Time Big Time” operations of the city police are expected to continue until illegal gambling and drug-related activities will be totally eradicated.

“Continuous po ang operation hanggang sa maubos sila,” said CCPO Chief Senior Inspector Joel Doria in a previous interview with The FREEMAN.

For the month of March, the city had conducted three successful unified operations, arresting more than 200 personalities. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
