ABS-CBN has tapped Alex to co-hosts with elder sister, Toni (Gonzaga), Luis Manzano, and Robi Domingo, in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines.

Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah ay mananatiling judges.

Alex also hosted, along with Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, and Robi (Domingo) the katatapos na Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs, held at the Araneta Coliseum, na ang Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako, interpreted by KZ Tandingan, ang nanalo.

Robert ayaw pa rin paawat, parang si Eddie Garcia!

Robert Arevalo is one of two na maituturing na most revered icon in the local showbiz industry.

Like his counterpart, Eddie Garcia, kumbaga, he remains in demand for roles either sa pelikula o sa TV. He now usually plays Dad or grandpa.

If Eddie is busy starring in the series, Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon, playing the role of current Movie Queen Bea Alonzo’s Lolo, Robert is cast in the title role, no less, of the directorial comeback of Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Hari ng Tondo na unang ipinalabas sa Cinemalaya X Film Fesstival.

Busy with his teaching job in filmmaking at a university in Singapore, sampung taong walang ginawang commercial movie si Direk Carlitos.

Ang last directorial movie niya was Azucena, filmed and released in the year 2000.

Robert is proud as well that Hari ng Tondo has assembled a formidable cast, composed of Cris Villongco, who, in real life, is the niece ni Direk Carlitos, and Rafa Siguion-Reyna, son naman ni Direk Carlitos and his wife Bibeth Orteza, who, by the way, wrote the story and script of Hari ng Tondo.

Also starring are Rez Cortez, Lorenz Martinez, Liza Lorena, Aiza Seguerra, Ciara Sotto, Ali Sotto, and Eric Quizon, among others.

Hari ng Tondo will have its premiere tonight at 6 p.m. sa SM North EDSA The Block Cinema 2.

Released by Star Cinema, Hari ng Tondo will be shown starting Wednesday, October 1, in theaters nationwide.

Sylvia sumalang sa ‘training’ kay Aiza

Tulad pala ng kanyang Be Careful with My Heart co-star na si Jodi Sta. Maria, gumawa rin ng movie si Sylvia Sanchez, which also kept her busy aside from her taping for the long time popular series.

No wonder that, like Jodi, Sylvia’s immediate plan after Be Careful on November 28, is to rest and focus her attention on her husband and family.

‘‘I owe them that,’’ tulad ni Jodi, sabi ni Sylvia. ‘‘As is common knowledge, more than two years akong naging busy for the taping of Be Careful…

‘‘Tapos, I had to shoot nga for my movie, The Trial.’’

But she has no regrets, according to Sylvia, na tinanggap niya ang offer ng Star Cinema to do the movie. Bukod sa co-stars niya sa pelikula sina John Lloyd Cruz, Richard Gomez, Jessy Mendiola, at Gretchen Barretto, The Trial also cast her as a tomboy, her first to play such role.

‘‘Kaya, I had, kumbaga, to take a crash course kay Aiza (Seguerra, who plays her tomboy-daughter in Be Careful…) to play my role realistically.’’

In The Trial, she plays mother to John Lloyd at ang asawa naman niya ay isang bakla.

Sylvia did not name, though kung sino ang gumanap na baklang husband niya sa movie.

She is glad din for son, Arjo (Atayde) who is getting good comments, she said, for his portrayal in the malapit na ring matapos na series, Pure Love, co-starring him with Alex Gonzaga, Yen Santos, Yam Concepcion, Matt Evans, at Joseph Marco.
