Ex-lawmaker’s son nabbed for illegal guns
MANILA, Philippines - A son of former Leyte congressman Andres Salvacion was arrested on charges of illegal possession of firearms following a raid on his home in Quezon City on Wednesday.
Police officers seized a .40 caliber pistol; a .38 caliber revolver; bullets for 9mm, .380 caliber, .44 caliber and .40 caliber handguns; an airgun with a rifle scope; and two magazines for .44 caliber and .45 caliber handguns from the home of Roel Andrew Salvacion in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches.
The lawmen had served a search warrant, issued by Judge Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106.
Salvacion told police the guns were his and the permits for them had expired.
The Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosives Office said Salvacion did not have a license to legally possess firearms.
