Renowned celebrity hairdresser Teng Roma recently launched Teng Roma Salon @ Conrad, the latest addition to his group of salons located at Conrad Manila’s unique lifestyle center — S Maison in Pasay City.

The Teng Roma Salon @ Conrad is the first Kérastase Prestige salon in the Philippines. It also serves as the flagship salon of Kérastase, the French international luxury haircare brand from the L’Oréal Group, in the country.

Customers at the salon at S Maison can also look forward to the services of international hairstylist and former Vidal Sassoon protégé Pascalain Gianello for contemporary precision haircuts, and Basil Yunting for hair color, hairstyling and makeup.

Influenced by Vidal Sassoon’s revolutionary approach to cutting hair, Gianello has developed his own style in “sculpting” hair using geometry; creating shapes according to the bone structure, hair texture and look of the client. Having practiced in Paris, London and Germany, Gianello shares his affinity with Asian hair, and styling it to achieve manageable hair that follows the body’s movement effortlessly. Now Manila-based Yunting, who specializes in fantasy hair and makeup, is the creative director at Teng Roma Salon @ Conrad.

Being a Kérastase flagship salon, the hairdressers can offer personalized haircare answers in the form of Fusio Dose for instant hair beauty treatments; Rituals for intensive hair and scalp treatments; and Protocols for deep and long-lasting treatments using tailored formulas and dosages, all using the latest Kérastase products.

The salon also offers Diagnosis by Kérastase, a personalized in-salon experience with a three-step program.

The modern black-and-white interiors accentuated by a subtle tropics theme and colorful artworks are a collaborative effort of Teng himself and designer Paolo del Rosario. Teng’s partners in the salon are Susan Theuer and Roselle Sotto.

‘Hope for wellness’ springs eternal

In observance of the World Leukemia Awareness month in September, EPCALM (Erwin Piedad Cabanag Adult Leukemia Memorial) Foundation mounted a three-day health convention titled “Hope in Wellness” at the SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.

EPCALM founder Dr. Erlyn Demerre welcomed guests and celebrity ambassadors Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Pops Fernandez and Michael V., who graced the well-attended opening day of the convention.

Among the activities during the opening day were health talks, a bazaar, a musical performance by Top Suzara and a blood-letting activity with St.Luke’s Medical Center (Global and Quezon City) and Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

Tessa Prieto-Valdes hosted a special auction, which included some of her pre-loved items, donations from Pops Fernandez and beauty queen and painter Nina Ricci Alagao. Also auctioned off were a brand-new Philip Stein watch donated by Emerson Yao of Lucerne; a Briggs and Riley Sympatico luggage; a Bose Sound Touch Stereo JC Series II Wifi Music Series donated by Wilson So; and an Eman Santos painting donated by Ron and Bambi de Castro of The Artologist Gallery.

Exhibitors included Antoinette Nisce Ngo (Nisce Skin and Face), Nikki Tang (Bioderma and Sebamed), CosmetiGroup’s Aqua Mineral beauty products, actress Janice de Belen (pork buns pop-up booth) and Mark Ocampo and Kelly Go (Auro Chocolate from Davao, my favorite local chocolates!). Served at the event were Kathy Yao Santos’ Happy Living wines featuring Beringer wines from Napa Valley.

The next day saw guests of honor, then Health Secretary Pauline Ubial and EPCALM ambassador Heart Evangelista, attending the event where health experts from the Philippine Heart Association and GoodLife gave insightful talks. The day concluded with a performance by Retro Pop group dancing to the tunes of DJ Jon Tupaz.

In support of the cause, Resorts World Manila Foundation chose EPCALM as one of its beneficiaries for the one-of-a-kind race called “Run With Me” held at McKinley West in Taguig City. EPCALM ambassador  Rovilson Fernandez ran for the foundation.

The convention concluded with a meet-and-greet with EPCALM ambassador Angel Aquino, performances by choirs from Christ’s Commission Fellowship, NUCC and Elinwood Church Malate, and a song number by Kuh Ledesma.
