With today’s fast-paced lifestyle, getting a new look would sometimes have to take the backseat to keep up with the demands of one’s job. Good thing there are easy do-it-yourself options readily available for those who are willing to make their #HairGoals happen.

Take for example DIY hair coloring, which is now made easier and has more color options with Watsons’ #HairGoals campaign.

Held at the SM Mall of Asia and SM Cebu, Watsons treated guests and loyal customers to a “hair-changing” experience to encourage them to go out of their hair comfort zones and discover different hair color or hairstyle.

Watsons senior category manager for hair care Aimee Kris Pernia said, “#HairGoals aims to introduce a whole new world of color and style options and alternatives. With a wide range of hair products available in-store, Watsons shoppers will find it a cinch to go for the specific look that they desire.”

Guests were given a chance to try out new hairstyles with styling tools and products by JML, W. Elite, Babyliss, VS Sassoon, Tresemme, Aquanet, Finesse, Suave and hair care products by Dove, Pantene, Creamsilk. They were able to try new hair colors, too, with L’Oreal, Revlon, Kolours, Bigen, Beautylabo, Lolane, Liese and Revia.

Ethiopian adventure

Travel show Asian Air Safari launched its latest season with a screening of a two-part special on Ethiopia at Shang Cineplex recently.

Ethiopian Ambassador Shiferaw Jarso, Ethiopian Airlines country manager Solomon Bekele and Asian Air Safari show host Capt. Joy Roa welcomed guests to the season premiere.

Guests enjoyed the ultimate cultural experience — with Ethiopian coffee ceremony, followed by a feast of authentic Ethiopian cuisine, which included the staple injera (flatbread) and my favorite chicken stew called doro wet. Cultural performers also flew all the way from Addis Ababa to showcase their unique songs and dances.

Bekele said, “Ethiopian Airlines is nearing its second year of operations in Manila. Our routes connecting the Philippines to Ethiopia are important avenues to bridge the gap between the two countries in terms of tourism, trade, cultural exchange and economic partnerships. We believe our mission as an airline is beyond just selling tickets. That is why we have done a variety of efforts with different local partners to introduce Ethiopia to the Philippines and the Philippines to Ethiopia. We are happy to share that we are looking forward to provide more exciting offerings for our clients in the Philippines this year.”

The screening featured two new Asian Air Safari episodes, “A Cradle of Mankind” and “A Land of Diversity,” with pilot and TV presenter Capt. Joy Roa exploring Ethiopia’s rich history, meeting its vibrant people, experiencing the unique culture and discovering the diverse wildlife.

At the end of the event, one lucky raffle winner bagged the trip of a lifetime with two round-trip tickets to Ethiopia.

The show’s new season resonates with the theme, “Tracing our routes, unraveling a diverse world,” which celebrates how various nations and races are able to find a common ground despite having very distinct cultures and religious beliefs. The show will also feature unexplored destinations in Israel, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and more.

Asian Air Safari is the only aviation-themed travel show in Asia. The show has been to over 250 cities in more than 65 countries to discover the world’s most fascinating places and cultures, meet with friends old and new, and to share experiences that make life meaningful. The show, now on its 12th season, also strongly advocates for the aviation industry and aims to inspire new generations of aspiring pilots to pursue their dreams of flying.

(Asian Air Safari airs every Sunday, 8:30 p.m. on ANC, with replays every Saturday at 2 p.m. Check out Asian Air Safari on Facebook and Instagram for more updates.)

‘Hope in a Shirt’

Social enterprise Generation Hope, founded by its president Nanette Medved-Po, inspires consumers to shop more meaningfully. It supports the construction of public school classrooms with 37 already built.

Following the success of Generation Hope’s first undertaking — Hope in a Bottle Purified Drinking Water — is Hope in a Shirt. This revolutionary clothing line of soft custom-printed shirts is made from 100-percent recycled plastic bottles.

Tapped to add pizzazz and her own creative and artistic stamp to the collection is actress, model, painter and designer Solenn Heussaff, who incorporated the design of a child and flowers — symbolizing how the youth can blossom into something bigger through education. With the help from color management solutions company Globis Inc., each of Solenn’s artworks was transformed into unique, artsy and high-quality textile prints.

And for yet another first, the collection will be sold in special Hope-branded vending machines that will pop up in three surprise locations. The shirts will also be available exclusively through Zalora. *
