The noblest of them all

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

They are the best of the best because in their hands and hearts can be found the future and security of the nation. The teachers, soldiers and policemen — they hold the distinction of having the noblest professions.

On the occasion of its 53rd anniversary, Metrobank, through the Metrobank Foundation Inc. (MBFI), honored this year’s winners in the Search for Outstanding Teachers, The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers and Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service. The fitting ceremonies were held at the Metrobank Plaza Auditorium in Makati City.

MBFI president Aniceto Sobrepeña welcomed guest of honor, Senate President Franklin Drilon, and distinguished officials from the government, business, academe and diplomatic community at the event.

Dubbed as the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, these exemplary teachers, soldiers and police officers were honored for their commitment to excellence, dedication to service and selfless desire to serve communities even in the most trying of circumstances. All winners received cash prizes and were presented with a trophy and a gold medallion.

Another highlight was the grants turnover ceremony and luncheon with Metrobank Group founder and chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty welcoming Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo as guest of honor. The MBFI awarded P15-million worth of grants to 40 chosen social development partners to support their programs and projects that benefit marginalized and underprivileged sectors.

“Just in the last five years, we have partnered with more than 500 organizations and provided grant support amounting to more than P127 million to various projects and programs aligned with our thrusts,” said Sobrepeña.

The MBFI also supports projects that contribute to the attainment of the United Nations Development Programme’s Millennium Development Goals.

Congratulations to Metrobank!
