YouTube stars unite

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

YouTube FanFest, a happening party that brings international  YouTube stars together on stage for unique live shows around the world, has landed in the Philippines.

The much-awaited event created a buzz in the online community, with hopeful fans eager to meet their idols. These Internet sensations have inspired the youth with their amazing videos.

House Manila hosted the after-party for the global event, which saw YouTube’s biggest international and local artists like Bethany Mota, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Thatcher Joe, AJ Rafael, Jireh Lim, Caspar Lee and Bogart the Explorer.

As fans flocked to the venue to have a glimpse of their idols, the club made way for the YouTubers to connect and celebrate with their supporters. With free-flowing drinks all night, the party was a certified hit.

To continue helping women in their journey to self-discovery, Physiogel, through its Free In My Skin movement, encourages women to take the “Freedom List Challenge.” This challenge is a lifestyle online quiz that is a representation of what women can achieve when freed from dry and sensitive skin.

The Freedom List Challenge starts with a five-question quiz:

1. Which fitness activities give your skin a post-workout glow?

2. What is your dream job knowing your potential is limitless?

3. How do you like to show off your beautiful, strong, sensitive skin?

4. Everybody has a dream “to-do” list. What tops yours?

5. What is your dream holiday?

The Free In My Skin movement, with its new website and Freedom List Challenge, is more relevant than ever because it is able to reach many Filipinos digitally across the nation.

GSK skin health senior product manager Justin Alejandro Lladoc said, “Sensitivity is a source of strength for women, not a weakness to be hidden away. This powerful consumer insight compels Physiogel to passionately advocate the Free In My Skin movement in 2015. It also coincides with the debut of the new Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy line.”

The brand’s moisture therapy line continues to be a science-led solution featuring the unique biomimic technology that works to soothe and repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier. The skincare brand’s new line is non-comedogenic and is free from soap, preservatives, perfumes and colorants.

TV host, model/entrepreneur and blogger Patti Grandidge is one of those who suffered from dry and sensitive skin.

Patti shared, “I used to be more conscious and watchful of what others would think about my skin. I would have liked to be out and about, but a little thought would always be at the back of my mind, wondering if my skin would be an issue or a hindrance. I was not free to do what I wanted to do.”

“Today, I’m very proud to share with you the continuation of my journey towards being completely free in my skin. And I’m ready for more.”

Patti remains to be the brand’s advocate as she embodies the Physiogel woman: smart, elegant, strong and empowered because she is free from dry and sensitive skin.

Supporting world-class Filipino talent

The Disciples de Escoffier Philippines held a dinner at the newest steak place in town, Smith Butcher and Grill Room, to raise funds for 16-year-old chef Louise Mabulo, who is the Philippine delegate in the upcoming Disciples de Escoffier Young Talent Trophy 2015 in Hong Kong.

The group gave all-out support for Mabulo, who will compete at the Restaurant and Bar Expo on Sept. 8 to 10. Mabulo, who placed fifth at the Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition in 2012, is the youngest and only female delegate who will compete with other chapters of Disciples de Escoffier: South Korea, China, Vietnam, Macau, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

Smith Butcher and Grill Room’s chef Philip Golding said that the dinners at the restaurant are also a way for Mabulo to train her culinary techniques and hosting skills.

The winner of the Asian competition will compete in France against champions from the other regions. The over-all champion will be given a two-month stagiaire under a Michelin-star chef in France.

(Smith Butcher and Grill Room is located at 147 Dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City. Watch out for an in-depth review of this restaurant coming out in this column soon!) (Follow me on Instagram @pepperteehankee.)
