WATCH: Duterte's threat to indigenous schools
MANILA, Philippines – Believing lumad schools are run by rebels, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to bomb the buildings in a feisty pronouncement against communists.
“‘Yung mga eskwelahan nila they are operating without DepEd (Department of Education) permit. You are operating illegally and you are teaching the children to rebel against government,” Duterte said at a press conference following his second State of the Nation Address last Monday.

“Sabihin ko diyan sa mga lumad ngayon, umalis kayo diyan. Bobombahan ko ’yan. Isali ko ’yang mga istruktura ninyo,” he added.
Duterte was angered by the recent attack of New People’s Army in Mindanao where a convoy of Presidential Security Group was ambushed. One militiaman was killed, while five were injured.
The attack prompted the president to cancel the peace talks with the leftists.
