LIVE: Senate hearing on emergency powers vs traffic woes – Day 3
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Committee on Public Services is set to resume its hearings on the proposed granting of emergency powers to President Rodrigo Duterte to resolve traffic congestion.
Senate panel chair Sen. Grace Poe will lead the third day of inquiry scheduled 9 a.m. at the Senate Hall.
The first hearing on the proposed emergency powers was held last August 10, when the Senate committee chair stressed that the proposal must be Freedom of Information-compliant. On the other hand, commuters were invited during the second hearing held last August 25 so that they can share their sentiments regarding the public transport.
However, last August 30, Poe postponed the Senate panel hearing as it awaits the draft bill from the Department of Transportation (DOTr). She asked the transport agency to submit a list of projects to be implemented before they could resume the hearings.
