WATCH: Duterte tells Tondo where funds from casinos will go
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte visited the urban poor in Tondo, Manila following his inauguration at Malacañang on Thursday night, vowing that the government will make use of funds from gambling activities for public services.
Addressing guests at a "solidarity dinner" at the Delpan Sports Complex, Duterte said he will focus on at least three priority areas for the poor.
Duterte was sworn in Thursday as president of the Philippines, with many hoping his maverick style will energize the country but others fearing he could undercut one of Asia's liveliest democracies amid his threats to kill criminals en masse. — Video edited by Efigenio Toledo IV courtesy of RTVM
