WATCH: Duterte on favoring Marcos’s burial: It’s time to move on

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte explained he is in favor of allowing the hero’s burial of late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani to unite the country, citing the Ilocanos’ clamor for it.

When a reporter suggested if the mayor is saying it is time to move on from the Marcos regime, Duterte agreed. He also said his decision has nothing to do with his friendship with Marcos’s son, vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

During the “Taas Kamay” segment of the second presidential debate, only Duterte and Vice President Jejomar Binay were the candidates open for the hero’s burial of Marcos.
