Mixed reactions on Leni's VP bid trend on social media
MANILA, Philippines — Netizens expressed support and disappointment following Liberal Party’s announcement of Camarines Rep. Leni Robredo is its vice-presidential candidate and running mate of standard-bearer, Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.
Some netizens approved of Robredo’s decision to pursue the vice presidency, citing her integrity and reputation as a lawyer and leader in Camarines Sur.
Supporters noted how Robredo broke the political dynasty in Camarines Sur.
I say YES to LENI ROBREDO not because she's a Bicolana like me but because she's a woman of character and integrity. #LabanLeni

Defending poor clients who can't afford lawyers. Leni Robredo also authored 30 bills and co-authored 100 more.

Thank you Atty. Leni Robredo. Of all the candidates that announced their intention, you are indeed a game-changer. You deserve to be there.

Leni Robredo for VP? Mukhang boboto na talaga ako!

While some netizens are rejoicing over Robredo’s move, others were disappointed finding her declaration too early as she has only rendered three years as Camarines Sur's congresswoman.
Disappointed with Leni Robredo.

I don't need a veep that can easily be swayed by peer pressure. Leni Robredo turned me off. Big time
— Warm Blood (@thewarmblood) October 5, 2015
Some netizens said that although they like Robredo as an individual, they will still not choose her as a vice president.
I like you Mrs. Leni Robredo, but I don't think we need someone like you as VP.

Sana talaga hindi na lang tumakbo si Leni Robredo.

Some netizens lamented how Robredo was initially reluctant to run for a higher post and considered her decision as “having no choice.”
Robredo admitted in her acceptance speech that she was ridiculed as "pabebe" due to her resistance.
"Sa tagal nga po ng prosesong pinagdaanan upang makapagdesisyon, ang kantiyaw na po sa akin ng iba sa inyo, nagpa-pabebe na lang daw po ako," Robredo said in her speech.
Leni Robredo for VP?? I thought she said she wasn't running for "big" positions??

@ashleyellaine LP doesnt have anyone left but Leni. "Robredo" rings a bell not just in Bicol but in PH.
— Sonia Marie Bacares (@smbacs) October 5, 2015
Robredo, widow of late Liberal Party member and Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, was also compared to former President Corazon Aquino who was also a widow who eventually decided to run for a higher position.
I hope ang pagtakbo ni Leni Robredo is because kaya nya, at iboboto sya ng tao hindi dahil sa nangyari sa asawa nya. Parang yung kay cory.
— Dan Joseph Jaro (@dandanjaro) October 5, 2015
Leni Robredo for VP? Hmm. Must read up about her first before commenting. I hope it's not another "Cory" in PH history.
— Jerica Paz (@jrcmy) October 5, 2015
Leni Robredo... the next Cory Aquino. Typical politician's house-wife running for a position. Ugh! #sympathyvote
— Jules Roel Ceniza (@cjulesroel) October 5, 2015
Some netizens who support Robredo also made their own tandems apart from what they called “Ro-Ro” or Roxas-Robredo tandem.

Others also suggested Sen. Grace Poe to can partner with Robredo to possibly make history as the first time women are occupying the two top government posts.
There's a part of me hoping that Grace Poe and Leni Robredo win next year, so that women can run this country, as God intended.
