Cabbie stabbed over extra fare
MANILA, Philippines — A taxi driver was stabbed by one his passengers in Quezon City yesterday after he asked for additional fare.
Superintendent Louise Benjie Tremor, Cubao police station commander, said Armand Cabual, 62, is recuperating from several stab wounds on his body.
The victim had an argument with one of his three male passengers after he demanded an additional fare of P150 on top what is registered on the meter, Tremor said in his report.
The stabbing happened in Barangay San Martin De Porres at around 1:35 a.m.
The suspects, described to be between 20 to 25 years old, flagged down Cabual along Sucat Road in Parañaque City and asked to be brought to Greenhills in San Juan City.
An argument ensued between Cabual and his passengers. During the commotion, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed him.
The suspects alighted from Cabual’s taxicab along Banahaw street and fled towards an unknown location.
Despite his injuries, Cabual drove to the Cubao police station, where police officers rushed him to a hospital.
Probers are looking for leads to determine the suspects’ identities.
