Bureau of Immigration to play key role in unmasking ‘15-30’ cops

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) would play a key role in unmasking the so-called “15-30” police officers, an official said yesterday.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said they coordinated with the BI to identify the police officers who report only during the 15th and end of the month to collect their salary.

“The BI promised to provide us the travel papers of policemen who went to work abroad but still continue collecting their pay in the NCRPO,” said Albayalde in an interview.

“We have initial reports at our disposal but the BI documents would bolster our case in the filing of charges against the 15-30 policemen,” he added.

Albayalde vowed to initiate dismissal proceedings against these police officers so “they would not be emulated by others.”

He said it is unfair for these erring police officers to be abroad, enjoying a decent second job, while other lawmen risk life and limb in the campaign against crime.

The NCRPO chief said President Duterte doubled the salary of police officers starting January and there is no room for such police officers.
