Woman survives 46 stab wounds
MANILA, Philippines — A 33-year-old woman was stabbed 46 times by a man who pretended to be looking for a room for rent in Caloocan City on Friday.
Robbery suspect Michael Franco pretended to be looking for a place for rent when he forcibly entered the house of Joan Bongares at Barangay 167, Caloocan City, according to Caloocan police North Extension Office chief Senior Inspector Dennis Odtuhan.
After scuffling for the weapons, the suspect stabbed the victim 46 times using a kitchen knife, a fork and an ice pick.
Police and barangay watchmen were able to arrest the suspect after the victim shouted for help, said Police Officer 3 Jev Melendez, who happened to be a resident and was the first to respond to the crime.
Two sachets of suspected shabu were found tucked in the suspect’s underwear, Melendez said.
Police recovered from the suspect the victim’s bag, which contained three cell phones.
Two other suspects who served as look-outs were able to escape.
Franco will face charges for frustrated murder and robbery.
