John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — A suspect in the Maguindanao massacre in 2009 was arrested in Sultan Kudarat on Saturday.

Tho Amino, said to be among the 200 gunmen, was collared by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM) in Barangay Dalumangcob at about 4 p.m.

Superintendent James Allan Logan, CIDG-ARMM chief, said Amino did not resist arrest when they served the warrant issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes.

The trial of the case is being held in Quezon City for security reasons.

The Maguindanao massacre, touted as the country’s worst election-related violence, left 58 people, including 32 journalists, dead.

More than 90 suspects remain unaccounted for.

Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares of the ARMM police lauded local officials and private individuals who helped the CIDG-ARMM locate Amino.
