10 kids hurt in grenade blast

MAGUINDANAO  , Philippines  — Ten children were wounded when a grenade accidentally exploded in Sulu on Thursday.

The children, aged three to 10, were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Reports reaching the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police showed the children found a 40 mm grenade in a field in Barangay Kanaway, Parang.

The children reportedly brought the grenade to a nearby shanty and played with it.

Members of the Parang municipal peace and order council said the grenade could have landed in the field, but did not explode after it was fired from a distance.
