Quakes shake Mindoro
MANILA, Philippines — Two moderate earthquakes shook Occidental Mindoro and nearby areas late Sunday night, but there were no reported damage or injuries, state seismologists said.
A magnitude 5 quake occurred at about 11:20 p.m., with its epicenter traced 30 kilometers southwest of Paluan town, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said yesterday.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Abra de Ilog and Intensity 3 in Sablayan, both in Occidental Mindoro.
The tremor was also felt at Intensity 2 in Pola town, Quezon City, Pasay City and Malolos, Bulacan.
Another tremor with a magnitude of 5.2 struck 26 kms southwest of Paluan at around 11:49 p.m.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Paluan and Mamburao, Intensity 3 in Quezon City and Tagaytay and Intensity 2 in Manila and Calatagan, Batangas.
Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
