2 missing during typhoon found dead

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The remains of two persons reported missing at the height of Typhoon Vinta in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte were recovered on Monday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesperson, said the bodies of a woman believed to be 50 years old and an infant were found along the river bank in Barangay Panganuran at about 1:30 p.m. 

“Police and search and rescue teams said the victims were among those missing during the flashflood…last Dec. 22,” Galvez said.

The death toll in Zamboanga del Norte due to the typhoon was highest in Gutalac, with 24 dead and several others missing.
