Over 600 fireworks zones identified in C. Luzon
MALOLOS, Philippines — There are now 630 fireworks display areas for the New Year celebration in Central Luzon.
An additional 130 areas were added to the 500 identified last week, Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, regional police director, said yesterday.
The Bulacan police said 11 additional firecracker zones were identified in Meycauayan, raising the total number to 24; Norzagaray, from 13 to 14, and Pulilan from one to 37.
There are now 399 firecracker zones in 569 barangays in the province.
The designation of community fireworks display areas is in compliance with Executive Order 28 signed by President Duterte last June. The EO regulates the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices during celebrations, competitions or similar events held in a venue other than a place of residence.
Corpus said fireworks displays should be conducted under police supervision.
Local government units are mandated to issue permits specifying the date and time where fireworks displays can be held and firecrackers lit in line with national standards, rules and regulations.
