Magnitude 5.1 quake shakes Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Mindanao were jolted by a magnitude 5.1 earthquake on Sunday night.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said no damage or injuries were reported, but warned the public on possible aftershocks.
The epicenter of the quake, which struck at about 10:32 p.m., was located 36 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 4 in Burgos, Pilar and Dapa in Surigao del Norte; Intensity 3 in Dinagat and San Jose on Dinagat island, and Intensity 2 in Surigao City and Socorro town.
The quake was also felt at Intensity 1 in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Earlier on Sunday, a magnitude 4.7 quake, with its epicenter located at 88 kilometers east of Tagum, Davao del Norte, struck at around 4:15 p.m.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Surigao and Butuan.
