5 nabbed for marijuana

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — Five persons were arrested for alleged possession of marijuana in Kalinga and Mountain Province on Sunday.

Ranny Serquina, 34; Samboy Tejero, 22, and Jester Dy, 19, yielded 20 grams of marijuana leaves when their van was pulled over at a checkpoint in Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga, police said.

Dried marijuana leaves were allegedly recovered from the van of Alberto Damasco Jr . and John Paul Canlapan, both 19 and students of the Philippine Women’s University and Tarlac State University, respectively.

The students reportedly came from Kalinga and were on their way home to Tarlac when they were collared at a checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
