Drug suspect killed in shootout with cops

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A suspected drug personality who has yet to be identified was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in San Jose, Batangas on Monday night.

The man, who was riding a motorcycle, reportedly refused to pull over at a checkpoint at the boundary of Barangays Tugtug and Natunuan at around 10:20 p.m. and instead fired at police officers who were manning it.

There was no reported casualty among the policemen identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Valiant Aguilera, PO1s Raymond Matala, Jay Santos and Neil Silva.

A caliber .45 pistol and a sachet of marijuana were allegedly recovered from the fatality.
