3 teens killed in grenade blast
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Three minors died on Sunday when a grenade they threw into an open flame in Purok 9, Barangay Daliaon Plantation in Toril district in this city exploded.
The fatalities were identified as Rain John Alagenio, 15; his brother Algen, 13, and Julio Limposanan, 17.
The father of the Alagenio siblings, Rocky Peter, said he found the victims sprawled in his lot, but thought they were just wounded.
An unexploded grenade was also recovered at the scene. It was turned over to the explosives and ordnance unit of the Davao City police.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio ordered an investigation into the incident.
“We would like to get to the bottom of things...to determine who owned the grenade,” Carpio said.
