Requirements for 4Ps beneficiaries in Marawi suspended

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will suspend the requirements for the release of the cash grant of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps in Marawi until March 2018.

“It is impractical to impose conditionalities considering the current situation of the people in Marawi,” Emmanuel Leyco, DSWD officer-in-charge, said.

Leyco said there are more than 11,000 4Ps beneficiaries in Marawi.

He said 4Ps beneficiaries in the city would not be required to attend family development sessions. The other conditions are for the children of the beneficiaries to attend their classes regularly and avail themselves of medical checkup and vaccines in health centers.

Leyco said the sustainable livelihood program of the DSWD is being assessed to cover Marawi residents who remain in evacuation centers.

He said the DSWD would not wait until the evacuees have returned to Marawi. “The livelihood of the evacuees can start wherever they are,” Leyco said.
