Passengers evacuated after MRT leaves coach behind

MANILA, Philippines — A coach of the Metro Rail Transit detached from the train pulling it on Thursday, two days after a passenger nearly lost her arm in an accident along the same train line.
Transport Undersecretary Cesar Chavez confirmed the incident in a message to reporters.
"Around 130 to 140 passengers were evacuated by the combined security guards from Buendia and Ayala station," Chavez said.
On Thursday morning, the MRT limited its operations from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard station at around 9:12 a.m.

Regular was restored at around 9:30 a.m.
Chavez said that there were no reported injuries among the passengers evacuated from the detached coach.
MRT Ayala accident
On Tuesday afternoon, 24-year-old Angeline Fernando lost her arm at the MRT Ayala Station.
Fernando was hit by a dizzy spell when she fell onto the tracks in between the first and second car of the train.
He arm was cut when she hit the coupler, which links the cars together.
She was brought to the Makati Medical Center after the accident.
Chavez, on Wednesday morning, said that a surgery was done to reattach Fernando's arm.
The transport undersecretary assured the public MRT staff have emergency response training as it parried criticism over the staff's action on the said accident.
