New Eastmincom, Wescom chiefs named

MANILA, Philippines —  The new chiefs of the Western Command (Wescom) and Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) have been named.

Lt. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal, former head of the Southern Luzon Command, is the new Eastmincom chief.

Brig. Gen. Perfecto Rimando Jr. was acting Eastmincom chief since Oct. 26, when he replaced Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, who was named chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Rozzano Briguez, former vice commander of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), will head the Wescom based in Palawan. 

Briguez will assume the post vacated by Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar, who was named PAF chief.

Madrigal and Briguez, who were promoted as lieutenant generals, received their third stars yesterday.
