MANILA, Philippines — The suspect in the killing of Grab partner-driver Gerardo “Junjie” Maquidato Jr surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday.

The Philippine National Police presented Narc Tulod Delemios to the media and to the victim’s family on Wednesday morning.

Police investigation showed that Delemios borrowed his girlfriend’s phone to book a ride with Maquidato on October 26.

The suspect said he only planned on robbing Maquidato but that the driver resisted, prompting him to shoot. Maquidato sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Delemios has a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued February 3, 2015 by the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court.

The PNP recovered Maquidato's car in Tarlac.

Maquidato was hailed as a model driver after a story about him helping a sick passenger went viral in August last year.
