9,000 soldiers, cops secure Asean venue in Clark
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga , Philippines — At least 9,000 soldiers, police officers and other government personnel have been deployed to secure the venue for this week’s ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting.
Police officers have been deployed over and under bridges along the North Luzon Expressway, according to Chief Superintendent Amador Corpuz, head of the Task Group Clark ASEAN 2017.
Security has been tightened around the Clark International Airport, where foreign defense ministers are expected to land for the two-day meeting.
“Except for the intensified security measures, it's business as usual in Clark,” Corpuz said.
The task force is composed of personnel from the military and police as well as from the departments of the interior and local government, health and social welfare and development.
