BUTUAN, Philippines — Around 50 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels stormed a quarry site in this city on Friday night and burned several heavy equipment.
Three backhoes, a dump truck and a payloader owned by a certain Ali Martinez were set on fire in Purok 7, Sitio Matin-ao, Barangay Bonbon.
The NPA guerrillas reportedly told the caretaker of the quarry site, Romeo Salado, that the owners of the company refused to pay so-called revolutionary tax for eight years now.
Damage to property was placed at P6 million.
