1 dead, 1 hurt in gun attacks

MANILA, Philippines — An ukay-ukay trader was killed while a high school teacher was wounded in gun attacks in Ilocos Sur and Zambales, respectively, on Friday.

Guillermo Lutong was standing in front of his house in Sitio Tam-awan, Barangay Alluling, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur at about 6:30 a.m. when he was shot. He died at the scene.

Police said Lutong was waiting for a van that would bring a box of lanzones to his relatives in Bontoc, Mountain Province when the shooting occurred. The victim was not on the drug watchlist. 

In Zambales, Bernadeth Paradeza, 38, was riding a motorcycle driven by her stepfather when she was shot in Barangay Sto. Tomas, Palauig.

Paradeza was confined at the Ramon Magsaysay Hospital.
