3 killed in shootings

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were gunned down in Isabela and Rizal on Thursday.

Fernando Marinay, 46, councilman of Barangay Aniog in Angadanan, Cagayan and a grains trader, had just emerged from a cockpit in Barangay Tuguegarao, Echague, Isabela when he was shot.

In Rizal, three men wearing bonnets barged into the rented room of Edmark Mariano, 35, and his partner Mary Jane Mabalot, 21, in Barangay Buntong Palay, San Mateo, Rizal and opened fire.

The neighbors of the victims said they heard gunshots and shouts for help, but decided to remain in their homes for fear of being harmed by the suspects.
