Boats containing bombs seized

John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Soldiers seized 10 boats, three of which contained explosives and bomb materials, in a marsh in Talayan, Maguindanao on Monday.

The boats were found in Sitio Nangkalan, Barangay Katibpuan a day after personnel of the 19th Infantry Battalion clashed with unidentified men who converged in Sitio Dungguan in the same barangay.

Maj. Gen. Arnel dela Vega of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said the gunmen could be remnants of the militants who clashed with soldiers in Guindulungan town two weeks ago.

Another team of soldiers seized two rifles from a house in Datu Piang. The firearms are believed to owned by a member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.
