Suspect in Davao City bombing surrenders
COTABATO CITY, Philippines —A suspect in the bombing at the night market in Davao City in September last year surrendered on Sunday.
Mohammad Chenikandiyil, who was escorted by his counsel Wilmer Donasco, was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
“We received information that he wants to disprove the charges against him. There is a proper forum for that. He surrendered to city police director Superintendent Rolly Octavio,” Chief Inspector Aldrin Gonzales, spokesman for the Soccsksargen police, said.
Chenikandiyil along with TJ Tagadaya Macabalang, Wendel Apostol Facturan and Musali Mustapha were arrested in October last year in connection with the bombing, but Chenikandiyil was released.
