Missing woman found dead by K9 dog

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines — A woman who was reported missing two weeks ago was found dead by a police dog in Bokod, Benguet on Tuesday.  

The body of Mina Balangay, 83, was found  in a creek in Sitio Ampakeng.

“The dog detected the scent of the body in the flowing water...We traced and followed the stream and found the lifeless body of the victim,” the dog’s handler, Police Officer 1 Eic Accatan, said.

Accatan said Balangay could have slipped based on the injuries she sustained.

The Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group 1 activated the Cordillera Search and Rescue K9 Team on Saturday to help in the operations of the Bokod municipal disaster risk reduction and management office.
